EEO POSTER

On October 19, 2022, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) released an updated “Know Your Rights” poster that supersedes the now outdated “EEO is the Law” poster. Employers covered by the federal laws the EEOC enforces are required to prominently display the poster at their work sites.
In its press release, the current EEOC Chair Charlotte A. Burrows stated “the new poster makes it easier for employers to understand their legal responsibilities and for workers to understand their legal rights and how to contact EEOC for assistance. The poster advances the EEOC’s mission both to prevent unlawful employment discrimination and remedy discrimination when it occurs.”
The new “Know Your Rights” poster includes the following changes:
Uses plain language and formatting to increase readability.
Specifies that harassment is a prohibited form of discrimination.
Makes clear that sex discrimination includes discrimination based on pregnancy and related conditions, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Adds a QR code for digital access to the webpage for employees to file a charge of workplace discrimination.
Includes information about equal pay discrimination for federal contractors.
The new poster can be found here. If you have questions concerning the EEOC’s recent announcement, please feel free to contact one of our employment attorneys by calling (501) 371-9999.
