George R. Ernst Named a Director at CGWG

Cross, Gunter, Witherspoon & Galchus, P.C. (CGWG) is pleased to announce that, effective January 1, 2021, attorney George R. Ernst was promoted from Associate to Director of the Firm.
Ernst, who joined CGWG in August 2018, has over a decade of experience as a business immigration attorney representing multi-national corporations across various industries. His practice focuses on advising clients in highly technical and complex matters relating to the employment of foreign nationals under the EB-5 program for international investors, EB-1, EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visas for employment-based immigration, national interest waivers, E-2 treaty investor visas, and H-1B and O-1 temporary work visas for STEM professionals, specialty occupations, and individuals of extraordinary ability. He also supports the Firm’s Employment Defense practice group in advocating for employers in the growing area of government-initiated I-9 audits and charges.
Ernst earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh in 2007, and then went on to attend Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, where he received his Master of Law degree in European Union and German Law in 2008. Prior to law school, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Kansas.
“At a time when government laws and policies are rapidly changing, we’ve seen how important it is for employers to understand and adhere to immigration laws and visa requirements,” says CGWG Director Misty W. Borkowski. “With George becoming a Director, CGWG further strengthens our position to meet the needs of our clients and their employees regardless of the changes that 2021 will bring.”
“I am excited and honored to become a Director at CGWG,” says Ernst. “Joining CGWG’s robust immigration practice has had a tremendous benefit on my ability to serve clients on immigration-related matters.”
